Curriculum
From AI Foundations to AI Concepts
In this fast-paced training, you’ll ground your AI projects in the foundational topics essential for successful deployment — and strengthen your ability to generate practical, high-value concepts.
Module 1
AI DATA FUNDAMENTALS
Get clear on the building blocks of AI — where data comes from, what makes it usable IN AI, and why it matters for your business.
- Why do we need to care about data during AI concept development?
- What are the key attributes of AI-ready data?
- What types of bias are often baked into data sets?
- What are the various types of AI models, and what data do you need to power them?
Module 2
why AI projects fail
Identify the hidden reasons so many AI projects under-deliver, so you can shape bold concepts with clarity and confidence.
- What makes AI a fundamentally different design material from the technologies we’ve been working with for decades?
- What are the common failure patterns in AI?
- Which of these failure patterns are inherent to how AI works?
- How do human processes and decision-making contribute to AI failures?
- Where does AI excel versus disappoint?
Module 3
The 8 Great AI Capabilities
Break the vast world of AI into a simple, actionable set of capabilities that any leader can use to fuel more effective idea generation.
- What are the practical capabilities that today’s established and cutting-edge AI delivers?
- How can these capabilities improve your products, services, and experiences?
- How does application of these capabilities drive better ideation?
Module 4
AI Concept Generation
apply a structured process for matching AI’s strengths with your unique business context — and generate relevant, viable ideas.
- What makes designing for AI fundamentally different — and why do our current methods fall short?
- How can we systematically generate relevant AI concepts for our products, services, and experiences?
- Who are the key participants in the AI concept development process?
From AI concepts to AI confidence
In this series, you’ll evaluate your AI concepts from every critical angle — technical feasibility, business and customer value, and potential for harm — then prioritize the projects most likely to succeed.
Module 5
technical viability assessment
Quickly weed out those AI concepts that present a high degree of TECHNICAL risk — so you can focus on ideas worth pursuing.
- How can we effectively assess the level of technical expertise and accuracy required for our AI concepts — without long and complex tech evaluations?
- How can we modify our AI concepts to make them more feasible?
Module 6
Value assessment
Assess which of your remaining AI concepts have the greatest potential to drive value for your business and your customers.
- What’s the fastest — and still effective — way to assess the potential value of our AI concepts?
- How can we modify our AI concepts to make them more feasible?
- And why are we discussing customer value at such a late stage of the AI-optimized concept development process?
Module 7
POTENTIAL HARM ASSESSMENT
Spot common errors and potential harms early — and apply tools to proactively manage risks and consequences.
- What are the most common types of AI harms?
- How do harm severity and duration factor into harm assessment?
- How can we proactively identify and mitigate negative consequences in a structured way?
- On the flip slide, how can we identify and amplify surprising positive outcomes?
Module 8
Concept prioritization
Apply the tools and criteria to rank, select, and build buy-in for the AI concepts that will drive the most impact with low risk.
- What are the critical criteria for AI concept prioritization?
- Who should be involved in final concept selection?
- How do we build internal buy-in for our selected concepts?
